Brothers Will and Max Major have ventured on a special softball journey together.

The two products of Delisle, a town located about 43 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon, began playing softball together on the same team seven years ago. Will at age 24 is two years older than Max, who is 22, so they had to wait until playing on older age group and adult level teams to play together. Will plays second base and Max is a catcher.

Currently, the two are teammates on the Saskatoon Jacks Men’s team, while Max is young enough to still double up playing for the Delisle Pride U23 squad that Will was once part of too. The pair also played together on Softball Canada’s U23 Men’s National Team at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Americans U23 Men’s Pan American Championship that ran in September of 2025 in Santa Rosa (La Pampa), Argentina. Both are currently part of the Athlete Pool for Softball Canada’s Men’s National Team.

While they have built great memories in softball, they have experienced heartbreak in gold medal games at Softball Canada’s Canadian Championships. With the Pride, the Majors won silver medals at the U23 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship held on the Gordie Howe Sports Complex grounds in 2023 and in Kitchener, Ont., in 2024. They also experienced a heartbreaking gold medal game setback with the Jacks in Men’s play at the Men’s and Master Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship last year in Kitchener.

Our main feature for the July upload of “Howe Happenings” is a feature piece on the Major brothers. They talk about how much they are looking forward to playing for the Jacks at the Men’s and Master Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship to be held at The Complex this coming August 26 to 30. Max will also get to play for the Pride at the U23 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship that runs at the Complex this coming August 22 to 26.

To go with the feature on the Major brothers, July’s “Howe Happenings” upload has a photo roundup that is anchored by uplifting photos of the Saskatoon Valkyries winning their 11th WWCFL title on June 27 at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. That victory marked just the second time the Valkyries captured the WWCFL championship at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. The photo roundup is packed full of images of the staple sports at the Complex in baseball, football, softball and track and field.

You can find these items on the “Howe Happenings” blog at howehappenings306.blogspot.com.

New content will be released normally on the ninth day of each month. We hope you will enjoy the stories that make up the posts on the “Howe Happenings” blog.
