Sam Regier and Charlotte Wildeman left their mark on the high school track and field scene and will now look to do the same with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The two Grade 12 students from Aden Bowman Collegiate and members of the Saskatoon Track and Field Club just finished up the high school part of their lives when it comes to the sport. That included posting terrific results at the Saskatoon Secondary Schools Athletic Directorate’s Bob Adams City Track and Field Championship that ran May 27 to 28 and the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association Track and Field Championships that ran June 5 to 6. Both events were held at the Track and Field Track on the Gordie Howe Sports Complex grounds.

When it comes to the next chapter of their lives in the sport, Regier and Wildeman have chosen to remain in Saskatoon and will join the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Track and Field program in the fall. Regier has been writing a comeback story returning from injury and was pumped when Huskies head coach Jason Reindl brought him on board. Wildeman always had an underlying desire to join the Huskies, and she is thrilled the desire is coming true.

Our main feature for the June upload of “Howe Happenings” is a feature piece on Regier and Wildeman. They both talk about how they got their respective starts in track and field, how they enjoy that sports community at large in Saskatoon, their last runs through track and field in high school and joining the Huskies.

To go with the feature on Regier and Wildeman, June’s “Howe Happenings” upload has a photo roundup that is anchored by photos of sites from the Saskatoon Berries home opener at Cairns Field. Now playing in their third WCBL campaign, the start of Berries season has become a much-anticipated time on the Complex grounds and the community at large in Saskatoon. The photo roundup is finally full of scenes of the outdoor sports world including pics from baseball, football, softball and track and field.

You can find these items on the “Howe Happenings” blog at howehappenings306.blogspot.com.

New content will be released normally on the ninth day of each month. We hope you will enjoy the stories that make up the posts on the “Howe Happenings” blog.
