Lions hosting long track meet at Oval on weekend

Public skating at the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval will be put on hold for two days due to a special reason.

This weekend, the Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club will be hosting their first home meet since January of 2019 welcoming skaters from clubs across Saskatchewan and the Prairie provinces. The John Sands Classic Long Track Meet runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, and Sunday, January 15, at the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval.

As a result, the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval will be closed to public skating on Saturday, January 14, and Sunday, January 15.

The speed skating meet is open to spectators, and spectators are invited to come out to cheer on the skaters. Regular public skating hours will resume at the Oval on Monday, January 16.
