Building closing in on completion

It won’t be long now until the Multi-Sport Centre is completed.

If everything goes according to plan, the crew here at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex is about six weeks away from getting occupancy of the new building. Shortly after that happens, you can expect user groups will be welcomed into the new addition to the Complex as well.

When completed, the Multi-Sport Centre will service Cairns Field and the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval, which doubles as the Track and Field Complex.

The construction crews working at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex have been doing outstanding work on the Multi-sport Centre.

We have a few “sneak peeks” as construction nears a finish courtesy of our Operations Manager Johnny Marciniuk.

Here is a look at the scorekeepers/announcers booth at Cairns Field. The booth features electric retractable bay doors.

This picture features a view from the photo-finish booth in the Multi-sport Centre building looking at the Track and Field Track. Paving will start Monday for the bleacher area below.

Here is a look at the second floor spectator gallery view of the home straightaway for the Track and Field Track and Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval. Roll away bleachers are slated to be installed soon.

Check out this peek of the media booth on the Cairns Field side of the new Multi-sport Centre. Cameras will be located right over the action.

This photo shows one of the team rooms that will serve multiple sports at the Multi-sport Centre. All that needs to be installed are the hooks for clothes.

It is an exciting time here at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex, and we can’t wait to be able use the new Multi-Sport Centre when it is completed.

We believe the baseball, skating and track and field communities will enjoy this new building.
