Great progress shown in Marciniuk photo tour

The new Multi-Sport Centre is coming together in a great visible way.

With the warmer temperatures we are now experiencing and spring seemingly in sight, construction continues to progress on the new Multi-Sport Centre building. It is on schedule for an early summer opening.

When completed, the Multi-Sport Centre will service Cairns Field and the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval, which doubles as the Track and Field Complex.

The crews working at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex have been doing outstanding work.

Our Operations Manager Johnny Marciniuk checked out the progress of the new building, and brought these photos back for a virtual tour to give a status report on the progress inside of the new structure.

The mechanical room is looking impressive. It is amazing to see the progress that has been made setting it up.

A team room on the Cairns Field side of the building is taking shape.

This photo shows one of the two main floor gathering and warm up areas inside the building, which has an open ceiling to see up to the second floor.

This photo shows the second floor viewing area that overlooks the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval, which doubles as the Track and Field Complex. We expect this will be a prime area to watch events.

In this picture, we see the open area that will soon house bleachers on the second floor overlooking home plate of Cairns Field.

Sticking with the Cairns Field side of the building, the scorekeepers and announcers booth is shown in this photo overlooking the baseball field.

We are making sure we look after our officials too in the new Multi-Sport Centre. The umpires change room and shower facility is shown in this picture.

This photo shows a meeting room that can be used by a variety of groups.

We know everyone is looking forward to this being completed. Pictured here is the concession prep area which will have indoor and outdoor counter service depending on the season.

It is an exciting time here at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex, and we can’t wait to be able use the new Multi-Sport Centre when it is completed.

We believe the baseball, skating and track and field communities along with everyone in the community at large will enjoy this new building.
