Thank you for making time on the ice great

It was an outdoor skating season like no other, but it was still a great one.

The crew at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex thanks all the users that came out to enjoy the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval for making the skating season a memorable one.

The community that came out to use the Oval were terrific in following the Public Health Orders like wearing facemasks and being understanding of the 30-person capacity limit brought on by those orders that deal with COVID-19 health requirements.

You, the skaters that came out from the community, did an outstanding job making time spent at the Oval great for everyone. The staff at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex appreciates everything you did for the success of the skating season.

Unfortunately due to warm weather and deteriorating ice conditions, the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval is closed for the season starting today Friday, March 5, 2021.

We are thankful weather conditions during the first four days in March allowed the Oval to stay open for some extra time past its regular closing date.

We look forward to the Clarence Downey Oval’s return next winter and making the next skating season even better when we can host everyone in the new Multi-Sport Centre.
