Marciniuk updates with latest photo tour

It might be fall, but the construction action is hitting high gear here at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex.

Crews have been busy out here building new buildings and working on improvements to the facility. In the process, it has created lots of picture options for our Operations Manager Johnny Marciniuk.

Johnny went on a photo tour today, and he brought back five sweet pictures to share.

The perimeter fencing is now in place around the track and field track, which doubles as the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval in the winter time. Trees are set to be planted next week to provide a windbreak for all activities.

The walls for the storage garage are up, and the rafters are on site and will be installed soon. This garage will house all of the Gordie Howe Sports Complex equipment for activities in the area.

It is situated just north of the track and field track, which doubles as the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval in the winter time.

The masonry walls continue to go up on the new Multi-Sport Centre building. The north portion of the floor was poured this week.

Once the masonry is complete, the second floor will be stick framed.

Along with the buildings that are going up, underground utilities continue to be installed on the property. In this picture, the work being done in the parking lot for Cairns Field and the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval is shown.

Of course, we know everyone will be happy to see the base work is complete on the roadway between our Indoor Training Centre and the Gordie Howe Kinsmen Arena. Curbs will be installed on the south side of the roadway, and in a week or so, fresh pavement will be laid down for a smooth surface.

We thank everyone for their patience as construction continues on the roadway between the Indoor Training Centre and the Gordie Howe Kinsmen Arena. Once this improvement is completed, we believe everyone that visits here will be very thankful when this upgrade is completed.

It is an exciting time here at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex to see these construction projects and improvements going full speed ahead.

We plan to show off more construction progress in the coming weeks, so we hope you will feel free to keep checking in.
