The Gordie Howe Sports Complex is proof that we can accomplish almost anything when we work together as a community.

Thanks to almost 100 volunteers – athletes from numerous sports teams, friends and family members, the first step in the inaugural transformation of Saskatoon’s new outdoor track into the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval is complete.

The 12,345 FieldTurf Armour tiles now covering the track will protect the running surface beneath and provide a level surface for flooding when converted into the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval this winter.

Special thanks to the following organizations for helping out: Saskatoon Hilltops Football Club, Saskatoon Valkyries Football Club, Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club, Saskatoon Nordic Ski Club, Saskatoon Minor Football, Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association and Saskatoon Hub City Track.
