SASKATOON, Sask. – The Gordie Howe Sports Complex Management Corporation and Lazer Autobody are proud to announce the 2025 winners of the Lazer Autobody Spirit of Sport Awards.
These awards are presented to athletes who have earned the respect of their teammates by continually and consistently displaying integrity, commitment, and sportsmanship, and who are catalysts in making everyone on the field of play feel like they belong. They include one female and one male winner each in the sports of baseball, flag football and softball. The 2025 winners include:
Female 13U Baseball: Rylee Lenius

The Lazer Autobody Spirit of Sport Awards showcase some of the many young players who are part of the programs run by Baseball Saskatoon, Saskatoon Minor Football and the Saskatoon Minor Softball League. Capsule biographies of the award winner are attached below.

Female 13U Baseball
Name: Rylee Lenius
Winner’s Division Name: 13U
Team Name: Royal 64’s
Coach Name: Corey Lenius
Why is the nominee deserving of the award: Rylee Lenius embodies true leadership on and off the field. She works hard, puts in extra effort, and always lifts her teammates with positivity and encouragement. Rylee is fair, disciplined, and respectful toward teammates, coaches, and officials. Her dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to supporting others make her a role model and an outstanding representative of the spirit of the game.
Male 13U Baseball
Name: Braxton Boschman
Winner’s Division Name: 13U AAA
Team Name: Saskatoon Dust Devils
Coach Name: James Fraser
Why is the nominee deserving of the award: Braxton Boschman set the standard for excellence and sportsmanship for the 13U AAA Dust Devils this past year. He was the team’s leader this year and was a great example on and off the field of how to be a great teammate and competitor. He embodies the team’s core principles of respect, team first, commitment and character. He is a confident and yet humble player who put the team’s needs ahead of his own. He is also an incredible baseball player!
Female Flag Football (Grade 7 or 8)
Name: Kya Tomlenovich
Winner’s Division Name: All Girls Riders
Team Name: AG Bengals
Coach Name: Jon Farthing
Why is the nominee deserving of the award: Kya Tomlenovich is an athlete that leads by example. She is honest. She is kind. She always gives her best and she puts her team first. She shows up early, prepared and puts in the extra work by conditioning throughout the season. She supports others without seeking praise. She listens and encourages all. She is not just a skilled player but a leader of heart.
Male Flag Football (Grade 7 or 8)
Name: Asher Thompson
Winner’s Division Name: Rider Division NFL Youth Flag
Team Name: Jets 8/9
Coach Name: Dustin Orosz
Why is the nominee deserving of the award: Asher Thompson is a truly deserving recipient of the Lazer Autobody Spirit of Sport Award. His journey with SMF began in the Tykes program at just four-years-old, and since then, he has shown an unwavering passion for football. Asher has grown into an exceptional flag and tackle player, even earning a spot as a starting quarterback for the SMF U16 Team North Sask as an eighth-grader. His dedication, hard work and leadership on and off the field have set him apart, and it’s clear he has an excellent future ahead of him. He embodies the true spirit of sport.
Female 13U Softball
Name: Zoey Lenard
Winner’s Division Name: U13B
Team Name: Hustlers Jaguars
Coach Name: Ian McKay
Why is the nominee deserving of the award: Zoey Lenard immediately took on a leadership role on our team. On her own, she identified a team building exercise and asked if she could lead it at our first session. It immediately brought the girls together. She built on this exercise to continue through the entire season. Her positive role modeling will bring her teammates back year after year. Zoey also took training to be an umpire this year and has taken on umpire roles at all ages. She is already a builder of the game at her young age.
Male 13U Softball
Name: Morgan Nixey
Winner’s Division Name: U11 Boys Softball
Team Name: Saskatoon Selects Sharks
Coach Name: Alison Draude
Why is the nominee deserving of the award: Morgan Nixey finished the season with a batting average of .750 with 27 hits and 28 RBI. On the defensive side of the ball, Morgan had 94 strike outs. When you watch Morgan play, you can see that he plays with his entire heart and puts everything he has into every play. You could always rely on Morgan when he played shortstop. He has an amazing glove with an even better arm. He loves the game and shows leadership to his teammates with positivity and reliability.
