Parker Bond is leaving his mark on the Bedford Road Collegiate Redhawks Football Team.

The 17-year-old, who lives out in Langham and commutes to Saskatoon to attend Bedford Road Collegiate, has been a member of the Redhawks Football Team since Grade 10. Since joining the Redhawks, Bond has shown his versatility.

Bond’s natural position is playing middle linebacker on defence. With the Redhawks, he has also played at fullback, running back and receiver on offence, and he has been on all of the squad’s special teams units. As a Grade 12 senior this season, Bond stepped into the role of starting quarterback after the Redhawks regular starter Gabriel Goyer was lost due to injury.

Our lead story for the October upload of “Howe Happenings” is a feature on Bond. In the piece, Bond talks about how he got into football playing at first the flag version of the game at age six before eventually playing tackle football in the KFL.

Bond also went into how big it has been for his football journey to play in Saskatoon Minor Football’s North Sask Academy program in the spring and being part of the inaugural year for the Institute of Saskatchewan Football. He also discusses his attachment to the Redhawks Football Team and how fast his time in the high school game has gone by.

In that feature piece, Bond receives praise from Redhawks head coach Dylan Andreychuk. Andreychuk believes Bond can continue playing the sport at the post-secondary level following the completion of his high school career.

To go with the feature on Bond, October’s “Howe Happenings” upload has a photo roundup that is led by images from high school football, which has been a staple at the Complex since 1960. The photo roundup also features action from the Toon Squad Female Flag Football League, baseball, softball, track and field and a couple of special surprises.

New content will be released on the ninth day of each month. We hope you will enjoy the stories that make up the posts on the “Howe Happenings” blog.
