He is the last of the highly athletic Blackburn siblings who is passing through the halls of Aden Bowman Collegiate.

Star Grade 12 receiver Ben Blackburn is playing out his final weeks and days as a member of the Aden Bowman Collegiate Bears Football Team. He joined the team in Grade 9 in 2023 and made big plays right off the bat playing alongside older brother Brady, who was in his Grade 12 year. Brady currently plays for the Harvard University Crimson in the NCAA Division I ranks.

Both Ben and Brady followed their older sister Lucie to Aden Bowman. Lucie played flag football and was a member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Women’s Track and Field team.

At the moment, Ben is arguably one of the best high school football players in Saskatoon and makes a tonne of big plays on the turf at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. While he is going to have a lot of opportunities heading his way to continue the sport past high school, Ben is just focused in the present enjoying the remaining moments he has playing for the Bears.

Our main feature for the October upload of “Howe Happenings” is a story on Ben Blackburn. The piece talks about how his family is tightly linked to the sport of football stemming from the elite-level athletic backgrounds of Blackburn’s parents. The piece goes into Blackburn’s foray into track and field at Aden Bowman and how much that has helped his football life.

To go with the features on Blackburn, October’s “Howe Happenings” upload has a photo roundup that is packed full of images of the fans and student bodies from the various high schools in Saskatoon bringing their spirit to the high school football “Welcome Week” games at Saskatoon Minor Football Field.
