Photo roundup sees spring season preparation pick up
Surprise moments where an athlete bursts on to a sports scene still happen in the current day.
One of those moments came to life during this past high school football season played at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. Grade 12 Holy Cross High School Crusaders football team running back Charles Sawi bolted to star status, and he only began playing going into his Grade 10 year.
Sawi had been a high-level player in soccer before switching over to make football his main sport. He tried football thanks to friends who were already playing the sport at Holy Cross.
In the current day when athletes at the elite levels of sport are focused on year round training in one discipline, you don’t see as many athletes cross over from one sport and immediately succeed in another sport like what happened in the past even about 15 years ago.
Sawi proved you can switch sports and still find success in the new sport you take up. Last season, he helped the Crusaders advance all the way to the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association 6A provincial final.
A feature on Sawi is the lead story for this month’s content upload on Howe Happenings. The piece goes into depth on Sawi’s football journey and where the sport is taking him in the future.
Besides the piece on Sawi, we have a photo round up that shows off how business is picking up at the Indoor Training Centre as the spring season nears for baseball and softball teams and programs.
You can find these items on the “Howe Happenings” blog at howehappenings306.blogspot.com.
New content will be released on the ninth day of each month. We hope you will enjoy the stories that make up the posts on the “Howe Happenings” blog.
